Don't agree... I think most Christians do believe in God. They're completely wrong, but they do sincerely believe. It's educated atheists who are frequently ostracized and it's self-righteous Christians who are the unprincipled bigots that make life so difficult and unpleasant for those of us who regularly contribute the most innovation and technical progress to America's economy.
Since atheists have no real political representation in the country we've helped make great, perhaps it's high time for a general strike by America's college educated professionals -- college educated professionals who are deeply sick and tired of ignorant Christian blowhards constantly undermining the country we all love.
Polls taken in the USA often show that the majority of people in the USA are religious. I do suspect that more people in the USA are religious than anywhere else in the West. It is statistically unlikely that as many are religious as claim.
It is the awful abuse that people receive in the USA if they state they are not religious that makes people afraid of saying they are not religious. I believe that if enough people had the courage the balance could be tipped. It seems extremely bizarre that a country which considers itself the most advanced in the world has so many people believing in unfounded myths.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
