Generally speaking, the need to list classes explicitly depends on the setup of your JPA persistence provider.

Some of them can be configured to scan a package for entities. Others require to list at least root classes.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
