In times bygone ... and as recent, as the 20th century ... Slavery was more or less, a human's physical enslavement ... Now, it has a Contractual nature ... Humans, are still being enslaved by capricious Humans ... though slaves are now "owned" somewhat differently. In my knowledge of the Bible, I am not aware, if Jesus, the son of Blessed Mary, Peace be Upon him, ever owned Slaves ... though his contemporaries did. Is Jesus' Disowning slavery, not a sufficient aversion ... for those owning ... to Follow, by way of the Rules, of Owning.
Slavery, has been ... Is ... a will remain ... a Fact of life ... till the Messiah's Return.
No I don't believe Christians who rejected slavery were going against God. The biblical saying "Do unto others as you would have done to yourself" would apply. Would most Christians want to be put on the auction block and made to pick cotton?
The obvious answer would be no.
Jesus never advocated the abolition of slavery....Not true-he did"Love thy neighbor as thy self.
Please. Spare us. Does the Bible imply anything?
The Old Testament always seemed pretty straight forward to me. What about the forgive all debts and release your slaves every seven years bit?
Wow. Ok... so are you saying that all black people should be slaves to us, and that that is what God wants? How about we make you a slave, and see how you feel about gods view about it then?
Maybe before you type a question, you should think really hard about it, and then go outside to your car, and slam your left hand in the passenger side door.
I'm sorry for coming in on this topic so late, but for future discussions, please refer to your sources more specifically by quoting a line of text and it's location, so that the commentors can address the question more properly. Otherwise the forum just becomes an "IMO" discussion which usually leads nowhere based in fact.
Wow! Really!? Your can't be serious...You wrote this question to start controversy, right?
C'mon..you can tell me.
Well the christian church goes against the very teaching of the Christ, though they revel in this name. They seek only to enslave you to themselves. Concerning slavery, the Christ taught that s Spirit gives freedom in every which way.
Whether he is free in the flesh or not. Who can then circumvent the Freedom of the Christ? Only your lack of faith.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
