John, I am plagued by negative thinking, a true pessimist and have been all my life. I feel it?

Obviously if you are depressed you should seek medical advice. If you want to work with and turn around negative thoughts you might find the process taught by Byron Katie helpful. Here is a link to her website: thework.com/index.phpBest wishes,Richard.

I'm sure that there are pessimists who do not suffer from depression. You don't say if you have been diagnosed with depression. However, one of the symptoms of clinical depression is negative or what I like to call "stckin thinkin".

There is treatment including the standard medication and /or therapy plus alternative and complimentary treatments as well. The symptoms for clinical depression are treatable but as of yet, there is no cure.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
