Joining the British army (a little help) - Careers advice?

To be well-paid in either, you're going to be working long, hard hours. Doctors have to go through 8 years of school, get tons of student loan debt, and the first jobs they get are usually tied to a hospital in ER or an LLC group where they get paid all of jack **** to work 20 hour days. You have to understand that since so much pay to doctors gets filtered through insurance, which gets reduced rates by farming more customers to select doctors, then the doctor isn't making as much as most folks think.

You'll have to bust your *** for like 10 years before you can finally go into a private practice or join a private practice group, and then it's like being a lawyer...you're trying to work your way up. You'll still put in a lot of hours. And there's a lot of risk for lawsuits with sue-happy people these days.

IT/IS professionals have an easier time getting up to the big bucks, but you'll still be putting in long hours. What you have to understand is that while tech seems to be changing very fast, at its very core its not. A CompSci degree will teach you the fundamentals of how computers work.

Everyone and their monkey is inventing a new programming language which is the new "fad" every week, but you'll realize they're all just off-shoots of other languages. With a CompSci background, by knowing the fundamentals, it will be very easy for you to adapt. The problem with CompSci is that sometimes you have to supplement your degree with certifications, like Oracle Cert, etc. These have to get renewed for you to stay competetive.

Likewise, the really high-paying jobs, like Cisco network admin...you can get like 100k+ a year at an early age, like starting at age 25+...but you will be on-call 24/7 and basically have no life. There is a reason these folks get paid the big bucks. However, doctors and medical profesionals also have ot take continuing eductaiont to stay on top of their field.

So, either way you're going to need to want to keep learning new things your whole life. You really have to decide how much of your life you want to devote to a career and how much to other things, like starting a family. Being a doctor and having a family at the same time can be very stressful.

But the IT field provides an easier work/life balance. Doctors tend to work a lot regardless. But in IT you can get jobs where you work a lot, and others where you don't but get paid less.

The IT field just gives you more flexibility on choosing a job right for your work/life balance.

Both the fields computer science and medical are good only. Its entirely your choice to choose your career bcoz you r going to perform which entirely need your full involvements. But my choice is Medical.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
