No, not at all. One pushed for honoring America and less government intrusion, the other could very well have been based on giggles and fart jokes. Your question is "leading the witness" as they say, not to mention snarky.
Beck's rally was not meant as comedy and was truly apolitical; there were no signs and one of MLK's relatives was there as a guest speaker. Beck had more of a religious overtone and had a larger crowd. If Beck's followers are conservative, and conservatives are greedy rich white people then how could they be old high school dropouts?
Can't have it both ways. Also, it's easy for Stewart and Colbert to chastise and make fun of others, because they can just claim satire. This notion that Stewart's audience was filled with young, modern, educated people is ridiculous, as well (save perhaps the young part).
I would say more like young, stoner types who haven't had a real job yet. There is a reason people become more conservative as they age; because they have families and paid the most taxes.
I enjoyed both rallies. The only similarity was they were held in approximately the same place. The themes were totally different.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
