Below is what I did to get wife's to hook up to a decent router. SOLVED! See stepsactually 1st thing was to get it online with the old router and let the operating system update from 6.0 to 6.2 then,I first de-registered the KindleFire and took all the settings back to start.

Then I found an old 802.11 B wireless router the KindleFire would hook up to and accessed that with a laptop. Found out the MAC address of the KindleFire and then manually added that to the wireless device list of the Cisco dual band router and VIOLA, the kindleFire hooked up to WiFi at once in the N band with wpa2personal security enabled and at high speed. Now it's just to shut off the SSID broadcast and put away all the junk I got out and get on with the show.
