Laptop screen goes blank when connecting external monitor and becomes unusable?

You probably changed your presentation settings. Right click on the desktop, go to personalize, go to change display settings, and you should be able change it to use one or both monitors.

There should be a button that say's crt/lcd, if you have an fn key it might go with that, anyway's you need to click on it.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
