LDS Only: What is better to stay home or go to church and not pay tithe?

It certainly would be a wake-up call if our church made us pay a tithe and kept track of our income because if that happened we would know our church was a cult. As you said, this is how cults operate. God gives us a free will to choose what we will give to His work (in the New Testament) "So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly, OR OF NECESSITY (as cults force people to do) for God loves a cheerful giver, although God does say if we sow sparingly we will also reap sparingly and if we sow bountifully, we will also reap bountifully.

2 Corinthians 9: 6 & 7) We must pay our rent, bills and buy food for the children yes because God tells us that our gift is accepted according to what we have and not according to what we do not have (2 Corinthians 8:12). God knows our heart, so if we have a willingness to give, He will understand if we can't afford a lot. P.S. It's not only Mormons which force this issue believe me.

The LDS church does not keep track of it's members income. It does keep a record of what each person pays in tithing. At the end of the year we are given a statement showing how much we paid.

We are then asked if the figure represents a full tithe and we answer yes or no. I've been a member for almost 40 years and so far nobody has asked me what my income is or forced me to pay tithing and I don't know of anyone who was excommunicated for not paying tithing. It's like any other commandment, a person has their agency and can choose to obey or not.

You forgot to mention the LDS Church's welfare system. Many families are helped each year by the Church. They receive help with their rent, utilities and they have access to food at the Bishop's storehouse.

The Church also has an employment service where members receive help in searching for jobs, participate in a job search network and get help in building resumes and receive training to help them on job interviews and follow-up. How many other churches do this?

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
