Like there is world cup for soccer which other games excluding cricket have world cups?

Can't really think of any. At least for the sports I'm most familiar with (those being the typical American sports) I can't think of anything equivalent to soccer's World Cup. I would say that the Olympics can't qualify due to its restriction that participants must be amateurs.
