None of the answerers, unfortunately, understood the question. You were basically asking which of the two had a better team and they came here mentioning things like goals against Luxembourg, WTF? Just like all of Cristiano Ronaldo fans, I would like to bring up the word 'complete' in this argument.
Messi has bigger names in his squad, but yes, as you said, all of them are attackers and everyone knows you play 3 attackers at most, and one of the picks is already taken by Messi, so it's only 2. I'm sure nobody here can even mention a DECENT Argentinian defender (Mascherano is a midfielder), you only see crap like Demichelis and Burdisso! And I can't remember the last time they had a good goalkeeper, their #1 plays for the newly promoted to Serie A, SAMPDORIA!
And the midfield is so below average, that even Messi has to go back to his own half to pick up the ball and organize the game. The only good midfielder (central, right and back, not attacking one) I can think of is Ever Banega, who is still only good. Portugal's #1 is beetwen Porto's and Sporting's goalkeepers, two of the finest teams in Portugal.
Pepe, Carvalho (okay he doesn't play anymore but he used to until recently) and Coentrao don't play at Real Madrid for no reason, so they are great. They have good central midfielders in Veloso, Meireles and Moutinho, and the wingers are fast (Nani, Quaresma). The only weak point of the team is the center forward part, where they don't seem to find a solution.
And don't forget that Ronaldo has more chances to prove himself, with Europe having way more countries that South America, he even gets to play against sides like Kazakhstan and countries like those. So in conclusion, Messi plays better, but Ronaldo has a far more organized/better team. P.S. And stoping looking up stats, watch Argentina and Portugal actually play, don't click to Yahoo after looking up the score at Flashscore people.
If you can't understand simple concepts like this then I just pity you. You base players on goals/assists because you're a mindless gloryhunter who doesn't understand football. So how does Portugal having good defenders help Ronaldo score goals?
And you fail to see how playing with world class attackers helps a player to score goals, as opposed to playing with significantly poorer players? Ok then. BTW, Ronaldo scored in the semi finals vs Netherlands in the Euro.
But I guess you weren't really a football fan until a few years ago so you wouldn't have known that.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
