You need to get the instance of your mainviewcontroller which is already displayed on the screen and then call the request. You should not create a new instance as it would result in a new object.
I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
