I use a twitter login and I just logged out and back in. I did see the 502 error the first time. Then I opened my Twitter account in a new tab to verify twitter if functioning.
Then Mahalo seemed to let me in with no additional problem. My guess is that this is something us Twitter users will have to deal with from time to time. A 502 Error means that the server you are getting data from got a bad message from an upstream server. In this case, you are on Mahalo's server and it got a bad message from Twitter's server.
This will probably happen any time twitter hits an extreme load level, aka the Fail Whale.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
