Looking to purchase a digital camera/housing for both Underwater photography and other use?

Looking to purchase a digital camera/housing for both Underwater photography and other use I'm going for my Master Diver/OWSI and I plan to get into Underwater photography. I need to find a compact high quality digital camera and housing (solid enough some some technical deep dives). Anyone have any experience with this?

Canon G7 + underwater housing WP-DC11 Check this combination: Canon G7 and Canon Underwater housing WP-DC11 Canon G7 has great picture quality (probably one of the best for compact camera) and set of settings similar to DSLRs. 6x Image-Stabilized Optical Zoom makes things only better. I have Canon G2 (one of previous models) and I had a chance to try G7.

Just great. Underwater housing is waterproof up to 130'/40m. I've never tried it myself, but I found unusual reference: looks like somebody on Flickr have tried it.

I'd recommend going with Canon Canon makes underwater housings for most of their digital point and shoot cameras. Many of their cases are depth rated to 130 feet (good for most scuba diving). The housings cost around $200 on top of the cost of the camera, but this way you have a good camera to use out of the water, as well.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
