Management does not liek us (staff) constantly checking rota?

Yeah, it's really bad. She tells me about people's private medical information, talks about how stupid this person is or how this other person is a slut. And micromanages me to the point that if I take an allowed break, she calls and asks what I'm doing, as apparently she sits there and stares at this system we have that shows what I'm working on.

I love my job, and she's retiring in 2 years. I just don't know if I'm going to make it that long. I don't think I can record anything...isn't that illegal?

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
