Maximum size of a varchar(max) variable?

As far as I can tell there is no upper limit in 2008.

EDIT: After further investigation, my original assumption that this was an anomaly (bug?) of the declare @var datatype = value syntax is incorrect.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
