My new friend was called stupid and ugly all her life ( by her parents, friends and ex-husband)...I find her intelligent with a beautifull soul. She has severe anxiety, over anylizes most everything, high blood pressure with short temper that once starts difficult to stop, defensive to the extreme, anger issues, never addmits her lies but a pro at turning the blame around to me, so sweet and attentive first 3mo. , cold, distant, selfish & fearful (over many things) last 6mo....love her but hurts Asked by nikita 13 months ago Similar Questions: Mental Illness react respond symptoms Recent Questions About: Mental Illness react respond symptoms Health > Mental Health.

This will only get worse. Run, run do not walk away from this. Why would you want such a disordered person in your life?
You are not a mental health professional. You can not fix this, only she can, and the picture you have painted suggests that is highly unlikely to happen. Please believe me, the more you involve this person in your life, the more it's going to cost you in the end.
There are times to care, and there are times to take care of yourself. End it, or regret it later. Good luck.
Yes, thank you for validating my feelings. Nikita 13 months ago .
We don't know the symptoms to which you are referring. Even if we did, the answer would undoubtedly be the same - see a doctor on this one. The Family Doctor may have someone he/she can recommend.
Also, you may need a psychiatrist AND a psychologist. Psychiatrists mostly deal in prescribing the medications while therapists do "talk therapy". Good luck.
Please read my added details...she had 1 yr. Of counceling after marriage, refuses anymore. Nikita 13 months ago .
Sorry I didn't wait long enough to read your added details. Your friend has been severely verbally abused her entire life, it sounds like. The lying and blaming others may be a survival "skill" she's learned; regardless, it needs to stop for her to integrate well into society.
You sound like a good friend to have stuck with her this far. However, you cannot treat her or force her to get treatment. My advice is to be as supportive as possible in getting her psychiatric/psychologist help.
Offer to go with her and wait in the waiting room while she's in session. Sometimes people want you to go in with them (my daughter's boyfriend wanted her there for the first two visits). Of course, this is entirely the decision of the patient.
If she won't get help and she is dragging down your life, you may have to cut off the friendship at some point. It seems obvious you won't get any support from her parents. If she has other friends, maybe you all could do and intervention - as far as I know, these have to be arranged and attended by someone skilled in this.
Good luck. You are being a very good friend.
Oops - "an intervention" not "and intervention" .
I just read where you said she is refusing counseling. Sounds like she is unwilling to help herself or doesn't think counseling works. But if her behavior is disturbing enough, you may have to tell her that you can't be friends unless she gets some help - due to her behavior.
Medications may also help. She could just see a psychiatrist for this and pretty much skip the counseling part. Sometimes a family doctor will try a patient on a psychotropic med,but if it doesn't work they have to refer patient to psychiatrist as that isn't the family doctor's specialty.
Good luck.
Thank You for your understanding. Sadly I will have to limit our friendship because she is bringing me down...I cannot even mention the word mental illness to her...she shuts down with anger. I guess she will have to do the work if and when she wants to....Hugs!

Yep, as Maggo has added, you are right in getting away from this person. You have tried your best to help and it isn't working. Also Do not let her words or actions after you make the break make you feel guilty.
You have already done more than most people would. What she does from now on is expressly her responsibility and nothing to do with you. She has been in counseling before - she knows where to go if and when she decides she needs help.
Good luck.
Just be her friend..listen. Sometimes you can also help them find other friends that can help support her too.
This is not a thing you should deal with, or even assume that you are qualifed to do so. Your friend needs professional help, and if you cared about her, you would help her get it.
With patience and the knowledge that you probably will never see this condition improved. One of the things I've noticed as a symptom in mental illness is whether the mentally ill person is able to love back at all. Usually (or always), the focus is so much on the self that others are woefully misunderstood and misinterpreted .
. And mistrusted. Time with and faithfulness thru unpleasant words addresses a lot of this, so the other factor for you is how much you'll be able to take.
You have hit the mark right on! This is my best answer yet....you understand...and I thank you. 10 months have past now and I finally had to walked away ...with my broken heart.
For the symptoms you mentioned above...I was not able to take it much longer. Lessons learned makes one stronger...I suppose. HUGS nikita 10 months ago .
I don't know. I'll ask my imaginary friend.
Lolol!....but I am serious and have added more details nikita 13 months ago .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
