If something was scary to us we would run from it, instead of chasing after it. Thus evil veils itself in glamor, and men are quick to help it out as it would appear. Its unfortunately that the majority of people in our today's world don't bother looking for the truth, they find a person who has twisted the truth, and with out any thought or research it pleases them so they adopt that and before you know it, lies spread like wild fire, hence today's version of what a real mermaid is/was.
For example, not to many people know where we got our santa claus from, yeah they think it goes back to some sweet ole guy who passed out gifts one day..if they cared to travel back even further to france, they would find that the man in the red suit derives from a true account, of a man who went into an orphanage and killed all the children, there is a painting in the museum there, that depicts this man standing in a bathtub covered in red, (hence his red suit) this story was told to scary children into submission, and like all things it has changed. The mermaid is no exception, the term is used to or was used to indicate a witch/evil/demon whom would use seduction to lure men to their deaths, now how society can glamorize that, that is amazing, yet they have, which means this work is not of men's doing, but evil through men. Guess the truth is not as fun for some as fantasy.
God Bless.
Over fishing in the early 1900's its really a tragic story after the human-atlantean alliance fell through after the war with cuthulu they became nothing more than sources of fish oil in the eyes of man.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
