My "favorites" are the various contraptions of the 1700's that were supposed to somehow have curative effects on their subjects. The "tranquilizing chair" that forced the subject to enter a tranquil state, the "gyrator" which pretty much had the same effect as lying down on a fast moving merry-go-round, or the "circulating swing" which pretty much had the same effect of sitting upright in the middle of a fast moving merry-go-round. All of these contraptions, though bearing striking resemblances to Spanish Inquisition style torture devices, were actually considered revolutionary in their humane-ness.
I found something about Electroconvulsive therapy. They induce a seizure to "reboot"the brain activity. Seems alot like Electroshock therapy but just as scary!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
