Absolutely. Heck, I'd let the government KEEP the money I've paid in over the last 20 years if they'd just let me opt out of the entire OASDI ponzi scheme entirely.
Those that retire on a healthy pension that more than supports a lavish life style, why would that person need SS, medicare, etc? It should be treated as a insurance policy in case of need. Prior to or after you're done or can't work in your life. I owned a restuarant.
Every day, observed a 70 yr oldish type, as an example - drive up a brand new lux vehicle, wearing clothes nothing short of Macys, overheard how they just got back from a 45 day around the world cruise and is planning another next year but they have to go visit their other properties over the next 6 months and complaining they only received a 2% ROI from a few thousand stock shares they purchased, then complain like the end of the world because the waitress forgot to take their Sr. Discount off the meal ticket. Explain why this person should be collecting SS.
Jdman13...not enough SS funds to support those who need it only because so many millions are collecting who don't need it. Why screw those that need it to make it longer and harder to get it as a price to pay while allowing 70 yr olds who retire on a lavish retirment or investment pension who are also collecting SS? That's the issue lock, stock and barrel.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
