MOVIES:.... does anyone know how to find an online place that sells hard to find movies.. i.e. "Savage Harvest"? I know Amazon.com usually comes through on this... but are there other places?
Any suggestions would be most helpful for future reference...i know a very old classic with Dorothy Dandrige "PORGY AND BESS" is in the making for DVD... it's still on hold.. also... hard to find is a movie starring Nat King Cole, Dorothy Dandrige, and Eartha Kitt, entitled ST. LOUIS BLUES... Suncoast.com I find it to be one of the best places to get movies, that are rare or out of print. I know it seems silly, since it's a chain and all, but I really have been able to find movies I couldn't find anywhere else, with them. They even have Savage Harvest: suncoast.com/Savage-Harvest-Front-Page_s... and a Porgy and Bess, but I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for: suncoast.com/The-Gershwins--Porgy---Bess... .
Try Abebooks and Alibris - the usual place to start hunting rarities. Care with asking on eBay, by the way. I know these are better known as book sites, but I've been trying to track down one particular movie (does anybody have a copy of The Grass is Singing, with John Thaw?
Promise I'll return it) and both those sites have a pretty good backlog of rare and o/p videos. BTW, I tried eBay's facility for telling the world what I wanted. Now I may be a thorough klutz, but shortly after that the following things happened: someone wrote saying he had it, got me all excited, then dropped out of sight (and of course their identity is kept secret); I was inundated by requests for my hard-to-find tickets to a variety of American football games - note not just one game but various, and of course I don't have any such things; eBay then told me that some son of a bachelor had compromised my password.
There are specialty shops for particular genres of o/p videos - sport, music, etc. - but I don't know who or where they are; it's hearsay information. But I'll keep my ears skinned. You've just made me think of a question.
Here goes (in the proper place): .
Found a few sites on the web I found this website The Internet Movie Database Savage Harvest (1981) imdb.com/title/tt0083034/ eBay has a few old movies too. Yahoo movies has reviews of movies. Good luck finding what you want.
Check repeatedly on Amazon Amazon sellers (New/used) periodically list movies which they are selling. It has worked for me to search Amazon and then check on it frequently. This Christmas, I put Hitchcock’s "To Catch a Thief" on my wishlist after a search.
It became available and one of my best friends sent it to me. That was a really fun surprise. Hope this helps. If you are not sure, you could do a search at www.imdb.com This could help you identify the version or movie.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
