Itchy Dog I have a Westie and a Wired Fox Terrier. The Westie’s has dermatitis. And there was a time when she suffered that I felt sorry and annoying.

Everytime he scratched the rabies tags and I. D tags would jingle all the time. We have spent a lot on over the counter and vet prescription drugs.

Some of the prescription drugs have steroids in them and makes the pooch look like a pig. I went to Petco and picked up Natural Care Shed and Itch Relief and it has worked the best. It’s put in the food.

Petco doesn’t carry it anymore and more expensive on line. It has Omega 3 and Omega 4 with fatty acids. Then In between baths, I use sprays one over the counter and another by the Vet.It seems the summers agitates the problem worse.

Max doesn’t scratch as much. I haven’t found the right shampoo, but I’m looking. It’s been trial and error. 1) Dog products and vets are not cheap.

Rip off!2) Max started out itching like crazy, and would eventually have balding spots called hot spots. I give him a bit more spray in areas where he starts the itching. Also I spray his toes when he starts gnawing on them.3) There were areas on his body with patches of little egg like black looking like flea eggs.

The vet said it wasn’t fleas but from the dermatitis. It's a real problem, and I hope you get it resolved for you and your dog!.

Scratching problems can be caused by several different things My sister had a blue heeler/rat Terrier mix and she scratched all the time.. first she thought is was fleas, then dry skin.... but went to a Vet and found out she had an allergy. So Vet gave her shots to take and some ointment for the scratching sores. If it is dry skin you can try the product by Avon called Skin So Soft is a good product.

There is something else you may try and is cheaper... give the dog a raw egg once a week and use olive oil.. 1 teas. To the shampoo/ conditioner when giving a bath. I prefer the natural was to the chemicals in the manmade products.. It is very likely allergy related, or even an allergic reaction to a food substance or product used on his coat The most common cause of constant itching is pollen allergy (such as mold, dust, etc. ). Realize that allergies in pets, as in people, is genetic. Your pet may experience seasonal allergies.

Your dog also may have parasites, like scabies or cheyletiella, or even a skin infection. If your dog is persistently scratching, visit your veterinarian. There are many treatments your veterinarian can administer to ease your pet.

You could also try by process of elimination, changes in food or grooming products to see if you see changes in this behavior. Sources: healthypet.com/faq_view.aspx?id=74 .

One of the main causes of itchy or dry skin.... assuming you have ruled out fleas, is allergies. My dogs sometimes in the spring start to scratch and then it stops. Their skin is very smooth and clear - no rash or redness of any kind.

One of the biggest causes of allergies is dog food. The following can cause allergic reactions: corn, soy, gluten, grains, artificial coloring or flavors, wheat. I only believe in feeding natural holistic dog food as the others are loaded with by-products and if you do not know what they are, please read this: preciouspets.org/truth.htm It will surely open your eyes.Do not buy pet foods in a grocery store or Walmart.

Only buy them at a quality pet store! Here is a website showing most of the dog foods that are really good. If you chooes any one of these you will be getting quality food.

search.onlynaturalpet.com/search.aspx?se... There are other good foods, but this is a good guideline. I use VeRus, which I am extremely happy with. veruspetfoods.com/ I previously used Innova Evo and Nature’s Variety which were also excellent, but this does not cost as much and it is excellent food.

The reason that VeRus is not quite as expensive is that it does not have all the bells and whistles, but I add my own supplements to the dry food. It contains all the necessary ingredients, but not as much in the way of fruits and vegetables. This is because they believe that these lose some of their nutrients in the food, and that it is better to give your own.

I add green beans, pure pumpkin, canned carrots, and banana. I give them watermelon, and cantelope which they love. They also love spaghetti squash, rutabagas.

They love everything! You must be careful of what to give though. There are so many toxic foods that you would never think of: peteducation.com/article.cfm?cls=2&cat=1... The other day I gave one of my dogs a piece of celery when I was working in the kitchen.

She of course chewed it a few times and dropped. Then she watched me give it to another dog and he liked it! So then of course she ate it and they were both begging for celery!

Too funny :-) Monkey see, monkey do! I would take your dog to the vet to make sure there are no fleas or anything he knows of and then I would try changing the food. If your vet recommends please do not try it.

It is full of by-products, etc and they only recommend it because they get paid to sell it. I don’t believe they purposely seel dog food that is not good, but they receive miniscule training in nutrition in school. I was taking courses for Vet Tech and we were trained with But I knew better fortunately.

I wish you luck with your pup. I’m sure you will get to the bottom of this mystery. It will just take some digging! Best wishes :-) Sources: Several years of reseach and working with experienced dog people.

I also only bathe my dogs when it is really needed. Very, very rarely.

They stay clean somehow!.

I have a feeling she has allergies! Next vet visit you could ask. If it is dry skin, a bath with aveeno might help - also you could put a tablespoon or two of vegatable oil on her food.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
