Howdy. The average for boys your age is roughly once a day. That puts you somewhat above average.
But remember, an average is just that. I have heard of boys doing it far less... and boys doing it far more than that. You are doing nothing more than satisfying a need that your body feels.
It's not harmful in any way. If you want to do it less often, you have to take baby steps. I would suggest cutting back once or twice a week.
In other words, for the week, do it once or twice less. Once you get comfortable with that, repeat the procedure, and cut back again. Keep doing this until you get to a level that is comfortable for you.
The reason why you do it when you are bored is because it is fun, and your body releases chemicals in your brain that give you pleasure and a natural high. My only suggestion to you would be to replace your masturbation while being bored with a different physical activity, like some kind of exercise. If you try to replace it with just sitting around or watching TV -- something passive -- you probably won't be very successful.
Mark's pretty much covered it. Masturbating out of boredom is generally a short-lived high, after the 'feel good' chemicals have died down, and you go back to wherever you were before you decided to masturbate. Physical activity does help with energy boosts - soda and other sugary products do not.
Find a new activity to explore; one that you may have wanted to pursue, but for whatever reason, never got A Round Tuit. Preferably physical, not mental. Perhaps long-distance running, jogging, cycling; martial arts (a great way to burn excess energy), etc. If you're not the sporty type, then non-competitively.
Also - and this may sound a bit woo-woo - when you're bored/down/sad, etc. that's an opportunity to love yourself more, not less. With your hand on your heart, either out aloud or silently, you just affirm: "I love you" over and over for a few minutes. For most people, even just that simple mantra, is in the too-hard basket.
But with practice, it does work.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
