My cat does this really loud deep meowing and does it more at night, why the heck do cats do that?

Mine does that for few reasons. He is 13 years old. When he is annoyed and he wants me to play with him and I make a bee line to the computer.

If a food does not agree with him, or he has a hairball he lets me know...he runs to the litter box and spits it up there. Such smart kitty.

I think cats generally can be more nocturnal than we would like them to be. My own cat will sometimes roam around the house late at night and meow. I also think the meowing just plain sounds louder simply because the rest of the house is so quiet at night, too.
