You can buy crown adhesive at most places that sell toothpaste and other tooth care supplies. It's a temporary fix until you can see the dentist. If you can see him within a few days then it's probably best to leave the crown off (unless it's a front tooth that is visible when you smile or affects your ability to chew).
If you leave the crown off, be sure you brush the spot well when you brush the rest of your teeth to get any food residue out.
