If you have the offer of a better life for your GSD, grab it with both hands! Many dogs aren't so fortunate. He will soon become absorbed in his new and more appropriate life and I would say, don't visit, at least not for a good while - he will probably find it confusing if you do.
Ask the new owner for updates and maybe some photos over the coming weeks, if it would help you. It's good to know that you care enough to care about how he's getting on :).
He will be sad and confused at first, but will soon adapt to his new home. It's important that you do NOT visit him at all. That will only confuse him more, because he will think he is still your dog and that will make his transition much harder for him.
So for his sake, don't do it. It's okay to phone or e-mail after he's been there a few days to ask how he's fitting in. But once is enough: don't pester the new owner.
He's their dog now. Time for him to move on and for you to do the same.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
