My friend, Clarissa, wants to write a book or movie, are her characters copyright?

1/ If it's just a school project, it won't be an issue. If you do plan on publishing it though, you would need permission 2/ There are two ways of getting published. Self-publishing, which costs money and basically means you pay someone to print copies of your book and then it's up to you to try and sell them.

That takes time and business and marketing skills as well as resources, which at 14, you just don't have. Traditional publishing is free. They publish your book because they believe it will make money.

They will pay you. However traditional publishing will not consider you. They will not consider you because 1/ you'e admitted your English isn't perfect and they take nothing less than perfection.

2/ Your book is non-fiction, if I got that right? You have no credentials. You don't have a degree or previous published work or a career in a related field that proves that you are an expert on the subject.

Therefore nobody will be interested in what you have to say about all this. You'll encounter the same issue if you attempt to sell your book after self-publishing. Libraries and bookshops will ask you why should their customers buy/take out your book.

3/ It definitely wouldn't hurt your chances, but like I said, that is highly unlikely. Write this book as a school project. Don't dream any further for this particular book.

However, each book you write helps you improve and that work will not be lost when you are older and have more skills and experience.

If you use a picture off the internet, you have to get permission, from the photographer. If you get your work copy righted, you won't get it published because editors can't make changes.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
