The ex-wife, the mother of the man's children, knows that her children are going to be hurt that they are being left out of spending quality time with their father, and that other children are getting the benefit of his attention and time on a special child-centered vacation. So the ex-wife is angry that her children will have their feelings hurt again. Sounds natural.

But anger won't help her children. Pity that the new wife can't understand or care about the other children's feelings.
