I have sandy soil and my well was 17 feet deep. I didn't put chemicals on my lawn since I didn't want to someday... drink these. Chemicals will move if alot of water is on the grass.
You decide if you want to be ecolgically healthy. You may add better top soil to help chemicals stay where you put them.
Just let it dry out hopefully none of your plants have drown, but your lawn should be fine. Simply let it dry out, and don't water it like normal until it does. Many plants deal fairly well with abuse and neglect, because they tend to have to grow in the wild where they're forced to deal with heavy rain and drought.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
