I really hope every student that visits this site reads your story will learn WHY its important to do well in school. Have you talked to a counselor at the community college? Ask them what you need to do to get back on track.

I wish you the best of luck.

I've talked to a few counselors and they told me to apply to all the community colleges around the nyc area. I've called like 4 today and they all denied me. But i'm not ready to give up.

I need to go back to school no matter what. I just need to know where I can get real help. Raw415 2 months ago .

With a less than 1.0 which is basically an "F" GPA since a 1.0 is equal to a "D" the only place you can go is to a community college. Take some basic, required courses and bring the GPA up to show that you're capable of college work and you can transfer to a 4-year school. What you should do is take all those basic courses there since a community college is much cheaper, then you have them out of the way and don't have to worry about them, plus you've saved some coins.

Good Luck! .

The thing is I went to a 4yr college and did poorly, I got a second chance at a community college and did poorly on that as well. To be honest I didn't care much for school when I was younger. Now I'm 22yrs old and I know that I need an education just that the college and the community college that I went to b4 won't take me back.

I've been trying to apply to other community colleges but they turn me down as well. So I really don't know to do. Raw415 2 months ago .

If you were in the San Antonio area, you'd have no problem. When I taught at one of the colleges in the district, there were people in my classes who had - I swear - failed sandbox in kindergarten! But, you're in New York which makes a difference.

Most community colleges will not reject anyone who shows they have a desire to learn despite academic problems in the past, so I can't imagine why you'r'e having so many problems. This may seem radical and unconventional, and it may or may not be practical, and to be honest, you may or may not be able to pull it off. Find a community college in New Jersey which is within driving distance and fill out an application.

Then, make an appointment to see the Academic Dean and tell him (or her) your story......make sure you're wearing a shirt and tie and all that nonsense as well because you want to make a good impression. And basically tell him what you just said, that you realize you need an education, but because of past performance even community colleges are turning you down. Request if he lets you in - and they will make an exception if the person is sincere - to be let in on Academic Probation, Double-Secret Probation (I hope you saw "Animal House" - that's where that one came from!) and any other kind of probation they might want to put you on.

There's a possibility that might work. Why bother wasting your time with no-nothing counselors who don't have the sense to come in out of the rain? Go to someone near the top and that's the Academic Dean.

If that fails, I don't know what to suggest short of saying you might want to move to San Antonio and enroll at San Antonio College! Oh yeah, then be prepared to work your butt off (and take easy courses initially!). So much for having a social life too - you're going to be studying to prove you belong.

Ok so just a lil update on my situation. I went back to my first college that I attended in 2007. They told me I was a good candidate for a program called NEW START.

Which basically means they wipe everything outta my transcript and I will have to start over from scratch in Fall 2012. I'm attending several workshops and talking to professors so I meet the requirements before the February 8th Deadline. Well thanks guys.

I appreciate the responses I got and I'm deff not gonna have an easy time after this. Going to study my ass off this time around. Again thnk you.

Why are community colleges cheaper than universities.

Since the Universities and most major colleges have been taken over by Socialist and closet Communist professors what...

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
