Before you start you need to know if your late husband had retained the copyright, and if so, that it has been passed on to you. Often, newspaper columns are the copyright of the newspaper.
Mick S is right about the copyright, however, in order to honor your husband the newspaper may agree to share the copyright with you on a limited basis. Talk to his editor to find out if they are willing to work with you.
Both Mick and C.A. Are straight up. I hope that your dilemma is already solved. If the newspaper has the copyrights, whether you can use them or not may depend upon whether you plan on making money or not with the articles.
If your intentions are simply to bring more exposure to the information and not to gain financially, chances are the editor may release the articles to you with some sort of simple agreement. If $$ is going to be made, naturally the agreement gets stickier. I've prayed that the God of peace is with you and I'm truly sorry for the loss of your husband.
May God bless you. Sincerely, W.R.Shinn.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
