My keyboard for my hp laptop doesn't work i'm using the keyboard that you click on to type please help me and my laptop! I turned on my computer one day and I descovered that my keyboard and my mouse for my laptop werent working....before it stopped working when I went to cut it on it said that it did not shut down properly. I would really like to use my laptop again.

For exampl if I typed the word 'after' it woul come out on the screen as 'aaafter'i ignored the problm and kpt on working. However, as I was working I noticed that the light on my 'caps lock' key was on.It didn't matter how many times I presed it, the caps lock key remained on. I continued working on ms word all night without any other roblems.

I went to bed really late and didn't bother turnig my computer off, instead I just closed the screen. This morning when I tried to log on my mouse on the laptop didn't work so I just plugged in a physical mouse into the computer. Next when I tried to type in my log-in password the keyboard would not work at all.

I also noticed that the caps lock light is still on. I clicked on the little blue option box in the left-hand corner and selected the on-sceen keyboard. I ued this to type in my password.

Now that i'm on my desktop-i still can't use my keyboard at all and the caps lock key still appears to be on. I ran the systems-restore but it didn't fix anything. Sources: techspot.com/vb/topic119984.html .

My keyboard for my hp laptop doesn't work i'm using the keyboard... I bought a tx2-1025dx touchsmart laptop around the 5th June 2009. I have used it about 3 times since I have bought it. The last time was in work to do some AutoCAD drawing.

While using it, I noticed that some of the numbers (in the row just below the F1 to F12 keys) stopped working. As a matter of fact, only the number "5" and "6" keys work. I can only get the missing numbers by using the "Num-Lock" function on the keyboard.

I notice that many users (over in the business forum) have problems with their keyboard being totally non-functional in some instances; with no reports of any being partially-functional. Nevertheless, I tried some of the following recommended solitions: 1) I tired re-booting.2) I tried updating the BIOS to F.143) I tried uninstalling all the Keyboard and Mouse software from device manager and re-installing them using the HP Recovery Manager.3) I tried updating the HP-QuickButtons(?) software.4) I tried unplugging the laptop and removing the battery, then sliding and holding the power button to the on position for three minutes (in one instance for a couple of hours with the help of a perfectly sized hex-bit), then re-plugging in the battery and AC-Power and re-booting.5) I tried a system restore to factory settings.6) I tried resetting BIOS to factory default settings, saving and rebooting (where I also found out the keys don't work, so it has to be something at the BIOS level, maybe hardware related). None of these options have worked.

The keys still do not function..... the funny thing is that I got them to start working ONLY ONCE at the logon screen and then into windows. After a re-boot however.... that was it... Does anyone have any ideas (other than replacement under warranty.... which is where I think I will end up going). I just want to make sure I have really tried everything.No seriously, there is no "Any" key....Solved!

You have already updated your BIOS which resolves the whole keyboard not working issue you mention in your post.

Am I correct in reading that while you were in the F10 BIOS the keys still did not function? Is it just the 2nd row of keys down that do not work? You said that you were able to get missing numbers by activating “Num Lock” did that make the “7’, “8” and “9” on that 2nd row function?

TouchSmart tx2 keyboard does not function. I purchased a TouchSmart tx2 convertible tablet, and from the moment it first started up out of the box, I get no response from the notebook keyboard. The touchpad works just fine.

Also, the USB keyboard I hooked up works just fine. Pen input works. I get no response from ANY of the keys on the keyboard.

I have checked and all of my drivers are up-to-date. Is the computer simply failing to detect the notebook keyboard? Is there a way to fix this without sending the computer back for a replacement or repair?

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
