My mercury manual says to use a 30 amp fuse for the blower motor however someone put a 20 amp fuse in. Would this cause my blower motor not to work?

I have a 1998 ford Taurus blower motor quit. 40 amp fuse hot brown & orange wire. 5 amp fuse hot purple.

And 15 amp fuse hot yellow wire. Pink and white wire hot under hood not at the blower motor. Single mom needs help bought a piece of junk.

I guess that is the relay. Where the wire comes out of the little box. You can pop those tworelays out together in one piece.

Here is what happened today. The blinkers went out blower worked then. Replaced that thing and the blower motor quit.

When I pulled the I guess relay out there, there are two side by side. It was completely melted. Wires etc. Changed out that plug in and wire.

Okay underr the hood the black box. Has the 40 amp fuses and relays along with smaller fuses. There are two relays side by side.

One has the pink and white wire along with a brown and orange, purple and then a yellow. The one next to it has a white with pink stripe etc. to the right of that are 3 smaller grey (whatever they are) and small fuses. This thing has two side by side in the one I replaced and popped out when I depressed the clips in one unit.

Hey I have been thru some crap with these cars this week. I bought a white sable. Trani went out won't shift out of 1st serviced it just as a long shot didn't work.

Bought a 96 taurus to switch out the trani. No help yet. So I bought this taurus and now all of this mess and broke.

First, disconnect the blower motor connector using the metal paper clip (straigtner one side) put it in the connector on the orange and black wire then connect the clamp of the test light to the paper clip. Using the other end of the test light, touch the other terminal with the key on and the blower switch set to high. Does the test light light?

I would like you to be able to check power at connector C221M, but it will be hard to get to becuase it is on top the steering column. Replied 1338 days and 8 hours ago. I unplugged blower motor, paperclip in orange and and black and tip of test light into the other connector plug in.

The car was running and it had no power. I have a question you have the black and orange wire and then what color coming out of other side? Mine is yellow with electical tape and goes up by the ashtray somewhere?

It should be pink and white and come from the blower motor relay and have power with the key in the run position. Replied 1338 days and 7 hours ago. I layed down in the car and I am trying to find out where this wire (yellow) that is taking the place of the pink and white.

I found the other half of the pink and white. Cut nothing connected. As forthe yellow wire I chased it to a toggle switch that got turned off somehow today.

If the toggle is on the controls on the dash work and so does the blower. If you flip the toggle it kills it. So should I reconnect the pink and white wires and go from there?

The pink wire cut out of the connector has power to it with key on. The wire also has power with it in the off position or in the high position. When the key is off all power is off is this right and do I reconnect?

It may have been for a reason such as a short, etc. I would have it tested before reconnecting. Do you have a volt meter? Replied 1338 days and 7 hours ago.

How do I check the wire before I reconnect it. One more question I saw on tv where if you use the wrong relays it can cause things to burn. The relay I took out today was different from the one replaced.

Can that be what started all of the problems to begin with? Please tell me how to check this wire before I reconnect. Could you also email me a copy of the fuse panel under the dash?

Replied 1338 days and 7 hours ago. Disconnect the battery in the vehicle. Set the meter to check restisance.

Take one lead from the meter and put it on the cut wire. Take the other lead and put it on a ground point. The meter should read O.

L, if it reads anything but this it is shorted to ground. About the relay, it is possible that having the wrong relay caused the problem, but not likely. If it passes let me know and I will get back with you in the morning to see what else to test.
