My P.C. Has an internet connection but my internet explorer isn't connecting. I have two PCs networked through a router. PC 1 is working fine and can connect w/out mishap, so I know my router is online.
PC 2 can connect to the internet through any program except IE. All of my other programs are fetching updates and so forth with no problem so I know the pc itself or LAN is connected. Internet explorer options are set to automatically detect settings, and Internet protocol (tcp/ip) properties are set to obtain ip and dns addresses automatically.
But IE keeps giving me the old cannot find server message when I try to connect. Asked by dgedinyte 22 months ago Similar questions: internet connection explorer connecting Computers > Hardware > Desktops & Laptops.

Some possible solutions... As Carl has suggested on the Discussion Board, this sounds much like the work of a proxy server entry within Internet Explorer itself. The way to check this is to go to the Start menu, click on Control Panel, and then double-click on the Internet Options applet. The fifth tab will be Connections.
Click on that and then click on the button near the bottom labelled LAN Settings. A new window will appear with two regions, the bottom of which is Proxy Server. As you are presumably in a home and, thus, would have no need for a Proxy Server, make sure that the box next to "Use a proxy server for your LAN" is unchecked.(Both Carl and I suspect that you will find it checked.) Once it is unchecked, click OK, then OK on the original window and see if Internet Explorer works better for you now.
As others have said, Internet Explorer is truly the worst web browser made for the PC market. Many prefer Firefox, so it is an option. I personally prefer to use Netscape Navigator as it does everything that IE and Firefox do, uses less memory, and is faster.
Further, as a tidbit that many do not know, Firefox is nothing more than a Netscape clone. In fact, both Firefox and Netscape are based on the same Mozilla engine. However, the biggest problem I have with Firefox is that it has so many unresolved memory leaks.
In as little as a single day with only three or four tabs open, the software can use up to 450MB of RAM. Running Netscape for up to a week with a dozen tabs open, it uses about 100MB. The only way to reclaim the excess RAM claimed by Firefox is to shut it down and restart.
Upon doing so, those same three or four websites loaded up will take 100MB of RAM and will start to climb again almost immediately. Google Chrome is another option but it is still highly experimental, so I don't feel that it is as good a general web browser as a typical user might prefer. Other browsers are just too minimally used and unsupported, so I would advise to keep clear or their ilk.
In order of preference, I would say Netscape Navigator (latest version is 9.0.0.6), Firefox, and Google Chrome. Sources: 22 years of experience as a computer technician and 20 years of experience owning a computer sales and services business .
1 Out of all browsers, Internet Explorer is the worst. Take this as a sign. It is time to use what the big people use.
Most people use Firefox, but due to all the plugins and add-ons it is very slow. Most recently everyone has switched to Google Chrome. Its free, fast and easy to use.
Good luck! .

Try resetting IE to its default settings. Also, are you seeing this on every URL you enter?
3 TRY FIREFOX! IE stinks, seriously. It crashed hundreds of times on me!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
