My Paycheck at work is Direct Deposit, I know there are Federal Regulation laws and State laws, but I...... just found out that my Employer OWES my Bank $17,822.64 for the Direct Deposits of us employees for the last two weeks, Which means HE IS NOT paying, the bank (my bank and the company bank is the same bank). The bank is paying so far, but I'm wondering ...... Is it possible that they won't pay and I won't get my pay? But I always thought it was a SURE THING!
What is your knowledge/or thoughts? I live in Michigan. I couldn't find anything that refers to this situation.

Cas - the sad news is that you may not get paid soon, and you may be unemployed soon. I keep hearing your stories about the place you work. You'd better start being a little more proactive in your search for a new job, unless you ant to be on unemployment soon.
Also, if you have the capability, you'd better start saving maoney aside for when the pay stops. I really hope this guy isn't saving aside money for a 401(k) or something that he's not depositting...
Oops Any company can go through a downturn in business. And getting a bank loan to cover payroll is a logical way to go. In the long run whether you get a paycheck depends on the overall financial health of the company and their ongoing business.
There is no sure thing. I've seen senior people at very large companies be let go when business went bad.
Be VERY careful Banks, as a courtesy, give the benefit of the doubt and PRESUME that a check that you cash is "good". However, once they find out it isn't they WILL yank the money back out of your account. For sure.
You will also be charged any applicable penalties....overdrafts, etc. Any checks you have written against this money will also "bouce". As quickly as possible, move any money you can from another account, savings, etc.To "cover" any transactions you have made against this money. Your bank may also charge you a fee for your employer's check bouncing---nice, huh?
As a courtesy your bank MIGHT wave some of the penalties if you bring the situation to their attention immediately. Regardless of whether or not the bank is the same for you and your employer, be proactive. On another note, you should also be very concerned about your employer.
They may be going under. Caution is a must. CYA.
Good luck!.
Having seen your previous questions about this employer... I will reiterate. At this point, as an outside business entity, I would probably not be doing business with him AT ALL, even on a cash-on-the-barrelhead basis. If he is writing checks (electronically) and does not have money in the bank to back them up, the bank has every right not to honor those checks, and one day soon, they will make that decision.
I would strongly recommend that you not only update your resume, but that you start finding places to send it. Your boss has built a house of cards, and you had better be expecting to see it come crashing down. Also, have all of your pay stubs readily accessible, because you will probably need them to show the taxed he withheld, come tax time, because the next level of owner-embezzlement is to withhold money, and not report the withholdings.

Contact the state labor department. If you are paid monthly, there may not be a problem, because there are still 2 weeks to get the money into the payroll account. If you are paid every 2 weeks, stop unncessary spending.
The state should have a 'Wages & Hours' (it would probably operate under a different name) commission to regulate or oversee payroll issues. Contact a private attorney. You will pay for this.
If you combine with other employees, you can split the costs. But nothing can be done until a payroll is missed.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
