My product key for Office 2003 Student/Teacher edition doesn't work. Now what?

Just that the serial number was not valid. I bought this school edition a couple years ago. I had a hard drive failure and had to reinstall my software. My computer guy put his copy of XP Professional on the new hard drive.

When I went to reinstall Office I used to serial number I had from my original purchase. But it doesn't say "Office" but "XP" Home Edition. I really don't remember but I thought that both products had the same serial number.

If Office and XP have different numbers then I guess that would explain the error messaage. Any thoughts? Jack JackoGarvey 11 months ago .

Whoa! That's a problem right there. The software calls home to Microsoft, so it's telling Microsoft that you're trying to install a copy of Office on a different computer.

I've gone through this on my business computers. When I've had to wipe them and reinstall the software, I had to write on the serial numbers on which copy of Office had to be installed on which computer, because otherwise I got the same message as you did. You will have to call Microsoft and get them to approve your installation.

Tell them that your computer guy replaced a lot of different things in the computer and plead ignorance. Otherwise, you will have to reinstall YOUR copy of XP Home on the computer and then reinstall your copy of Office. It's Office that's sends Microsoft your XP reg number and a configuration number based on your hard drive, motherboard, etc.Your alternative is to download Open Office, which has almost everything that Microsoft Office has, or try Google Docs at docs.google.

Com that offers almost the same functionality. Fun from Microsoft! You can't install your own software!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
