My rhubarb plants are about 5/6 years old . This year they have grown very tall and are flowering. What is this about.
Stalks don't look normal I'm afraid to use them. Asked by bernadine 31 months ago Similar questions: rhubarb plants years year grown tall flowering Home > Patio, Lawn & Garden.

It has matured but don't worry.... It’s just a natural process that happens when they reach a certain age. The flowering does no harm to stalks, they can still be eaten. All you have to do is cut the flower stock this will then allow the plant to send energy back to where it is needed, the main plant itself.
You should keep an eye on it as the flower can return, just keep cutting the flower off! The flower stalks are not edible, the normal rhubarb stocks are still edible. The flower like I already mentioned does no harm to the fruit stalks!
Most flowers from Rhubarb are interesting and beautiful, you can always allow one just for the flower to see for yourself...:O) Sources: Google pics .
1 When in doubt, do without. I have some in the yard up north and they grow into very high plants, and are almost like stalks of bamboo sticks.

2 They are developing root bulbs: Very normal, and time to dig them up and sperate the roots and then have fun replanting and sharing roots with friends. Roots right now are selling for around 9.99 per starter.Blessings.........Annlee .

3 Mine are blooming, too. Since nobody in my family eats rhubarb - as it clearly crosses the line between a dessert and a vegetable - they may get dug up and put out for adoption.

I'm looking for some dark blue/light blue flowering plants that come back every year for a hardy zone 4-5.
Looking to buy rhubarb plants/bulbs in NY city or Queens woodside area, maybe garden centre etc if its out there.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
