It could mean a number of things, not of all them are anything to be concerned about As a physician I've seen (literally) my share of patients with discolored stool. It could mean a number of things. Ask yourself these questions first before worrying yourself: 1.
Have you eaten a lot of green vegetables? 2. Have you eaten anything with blue or green dye...many foods and drinks contain dyes.3.
Are you eating enough? I pose this question for the simple fact that the when the body hasn't had enough food intake the human bowels give your stool a green color. It doesn't take much of a lack of food for your body to do this either.
Just think of when you've been ill and you've vomited all you can vomit, what comes up...bile. Bile has a yellowish green color to it and coming out the other end will cause a green stool.4. Stress is another factor that can change the color of your bowel movements. To put your mind at ease, it is not abnormal one bit to have green stool, but I do recommend that if it continues longer then a week from now schedule an appointment with your physician and request a stool analysis.
I hope I've helped at least a bit to put your mind at ease. If you have any further questions or concerns feel free to ask me. I'd be happy to help.

Probably something you ate Most likely this is not something to worry about. I remember one time when I was changing a diaper and my daughter's excretement was flourescent green. I was freaked out, but eventually realized it was the generic fruit loops.
Oddly, the brand name did not have this effect. In any case, it is very black feces that should cause concern because it is often a sign of blood in stool (or consumption of Pepto Bismol). If you are concerned you can get a home kit from your doctor to test for blood in stool.

Greenish discolouration usually means a tummy upset of some kind - an infection. It is most likely to settle without any treatment over 10 to 14 days maximum. Only if it lasts longer than that should it be looked into.
Another reason could be that a "green" stool is from rapid transit of feces through the intestines (or the consumption of certain blue or green food dyes in quantity), and "clay-like" appearance to the feces is the result of a lack of bilirubin. It maybe from eating green vegetables. If food is less digested it can look like this. Gall bladder problems and celiac.
