Nine years, 4500 dead, 40 thousand wounded, and 705 billion dollars, and we are finally getting out of Iraq. 50 thousand Iraqi's killed, and we found no WMD's, and BinLaden was not there. Thoughts?

If you remember correctly, Bush promised that OIL would pay for the war..BTW--he also said it would only last a few months, and then a gratefull Iraq nation would embrace democracy..Someday there will be a made for TV sitcom about all this...
I had forgotten those promises. They were so long ago! TurboB 10 days ago .
Indulgent, ignorant, idiotic WASTE. Thanks for nothing Bush you ass.
Thanks for your comment. I guess that while I have a hard time justifying the cost of human life, and the cost of the war, not to mention the millions it is going to continue to cost us in medical care and treatment for our brave soldiers that gave so much for us over there, I cannot understand why some people feel our exit is premature. What more could we possibly hope to accomplish?
It's been NINE YEARS! All those lives, all that heartbreak of the families here, all that money - and they feel we should continue? Let's face it.
We, America, can no longer afford to police the world. TurboB 10 days ago .
Revenge is not sweet....goodwill is better.
The war in Iraq had nothing to do with revenge. But thanks for your reply. TurboB 10 days ago .
Somebody or somebodies had some horribly wrong information. I just refuse to believe that anyone INTENTIONALLY created that debacle for personal gain or to settle a family vendetta. Could there have been corporate corruption on the part of Haliburton and others who stood to gain, and did they influence politicians, pay for and channel false information?
I wouldn't be surprised. Corporations have no conscience - and it's why they need to be closely regulated, prevented from becoming "too big to fail," and a truly free market with genuine competition and no unfair advantages needs to be fostered. President Eisenhower warned about the military industrial complex.
Too bad we didn't listen.
I do not want to believe it, either. But war is very good for certain businesses, and I do not think I am being remiss or telling falsehoods when I state that Halliburton made out like fat rats on the war in Iraq. They got bonuses for fast completion of structures that were deemed unfit for use and condemmed without ever having been used.
And Xe Services (formerly known as Blackwater) made a tidy sum, as well. If this war has taught us anything, it is that major corporations will stop at nothing in the grubbing for the almighty dollar, and we can no longer afford the cost. We need elected officials who are not bought and paid for puppets of big business.
The county belongs to us - the citizens. Not corporations who do not give a damn about anything but profit - and it is time they realised that. TurboB 10 days ago .
The war in Iraq had nothing to do with revengeWell...maybe, or maybe not, according to some critics. I've always hoped that is not the case. ::shrug::"A Personal Vendetta?
Some Americans have wondered whether the president's determination to take on Saddam is a personal obsession — one born in the aftermath of the Gulf War his father launched, when Saddam was left in power. And last fall, in Texas, this president seemed to confirm the personal nature of this conflict. "There's no doubt his hatred is mainly directed at us," Bush said."There's no doubt he can't stand us.
After all, this is a guy that tried to kill my dad at one time. "But while opponents of Bush say he's simply out for revenge, others say it's not that simple." TtjnqWOVrlY.
First I've heard about it! Was there a blog or something? .
Oh, I remember. One of the wanna be's was whining about others cut and pasting her comments in order to speak to her directly. She seems to think no one is allowed to cross talk.
She is incorrect. As usual. TurboB 9 days ago .
If someone doesn't want to be addressed, it's simple: Leave.
At least we didn't waste it building roads and power lines in America.
Right. Cause we don't need anything here in the country. Our infrastructure is in great shape!

Building other countries' infrastructure is patriotism. Building our own is soshulizm.
I know we're not supposed to comment on other people's answers, but in reference to Goldies comment about revenge and all that; I don't think we can point to any one motive as THE reason why we went to Iraq; but rather it was an accumulation of ALL the motives that the administration was accused of. I.E. We didn't go BECAUSE of revenge against Hussein for being an embarrassment to GHW Bush, but it was a factor. We didn't go BECAUSE we wanted control of the oil, but it was a factor.
We didn't go BECAUSE W's ratings spike from Afghanistan was fading, but it was a factor...
We shouldn't have been there in the first place. Now, as for the reasons why, that would be the interesting answer.
True. I'm sure the reasons vary given who you talk to! TurboB 9 days ago .

1. What would you do if you had a billion dollars?
Anaesthesial Awareness' is a disorder that affects 20 to 40 thousand out of every 2 million Americans.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
