Nodejs simple socket.io example not working?

I believe the issue is that you are emitting customevent from the client before you are connected. Try adding a connect handler and moving your client side emit into it.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
