Now that Poppet's conspiracy to get JoeCsekoBrainBuilder banned from Askville has succeeded, what should happen next?

I think Askville should get rid of superpowers entirely - that includes the topic one because people could just add a topic they want to move up in to every question they answer. Superpowers just drive people to game for coins, coins that are worth nothing more than playing stupid games on questville.Com - we all need to realize that THEY'RE NOT THAT IMPORTANT! Stupid coins, they got everyone into this mess.

Sources: My opinion .

People should get a grip! I haven't been around Askville for very long, but I must say that I'm not at all sure I like the coin thing. Once again, it is possible to divide folks into two camps (don't you just love dichotomous categorization?): those who are looking for a community where you can have sensible, possibly even erudite conversation; and those who are more motivated by coins.

The latter tend to engage in games, and learning to use superpowers, and, conversely, attempts to understand and follow rules to the letter. What is missing here, is any deep understanding of what Amazon is up to. Lots of speculation, but I don't know what they really think.

I suspect that if they want to, they can compile enormously useful dossiers on people by looking at their purchasing behavior on Amazon, and then correlating it with a sophisticated qualitative analysis of their questions, answers and opinions, and developing profiles that will allow them to market ever more effectively. They might even find a lucrative market in selling these data to other marketers. As to the coins: this is another experiment in reputation measurement, and as such, it is interesting. I think they have made a number of predictable mistakes, and with a decent analyst on board, they could probably redesign the rules and their marketing of the rules to reduce the kinds of problems they may be experiencing.

As to conspiracies: seems to me that it is normal to have little cliques develop, and people pming each other all over the place in private, and people should expect this, and get a grip! As to community standards: this is a tricky area, and one where I've been attacked by Askville. Perhaps, I am, myself, a victim of the Poppet conspiracy: for after all, her kindness in animating my avatar may have been just giving me noose with which to hang myself!

Did she, herself, report me, after I used the avatar she created? Did she, seeing me as a newbie, just let me go my own way, knowing I'd get in trouble? But this is just silliness.

Like People aren't that devious, and if they are, they deserve medals, and should be put to work running the Iraq war. That would be a just reward! I think that people, in general, love conspiracy theories, because it makes it so they don't have to think about the complexity of real life, human systems.

And even if there are conspiracies, it seems to me that it works just as well to live your life blithely going along, assuming the best of everyone, just like Pollyanna, for that, in the end, will make your life much happier!.

3 Q, I know you and Joe are friends, and I'm sorry he has been banned from Askville through the end of October. It's not my place to second-guess your decision to ask this question, but I do think your question is presumptuous. Do you have proof of a conspiracy? If so, you should have included that proof in the Details section.

From what I have seen on many Discussion Boards, there have been a number of people who have voiced their anger with the way Joe has dealt with them. In my early days on this site, I felt a bit afraid of Joe, but those feelings didn't last very long. I have come to like and respect Joe.

I am sorry the Askville Team has taken the banning route with him, and I will be happy when the first of November rolls around. You probably know that your question won't be on this site for very long. Please know that I am not going to be the one to report your question to Askville as being abuse, but I'm sure someone will.

Your question is insulting to Poppet, especially without proof. Even with proof, I believe this is a private matter which has been dealt with by Askville and the people in question.

A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
