They actually have a great chance of getting to the quarter-finals, and with a bit of luck, the semis. By winning their group ahead of England, they have avoided a meeting with Germany, and will instead play Ghana, a team who have not been very impressive and who have gone through thanks to Serbia and Australia's mistakes more than anything else. So Ghana are very beatable, and the way the draw is, the USA would then meet the winner of the game between Uruguay and South Korea, two teams who would also not have been expected to make it too far beyond the group stages.
Whatever happens, there will be a surprise team in the semi-finals. The USA also have not played their best game yet, in my opinion. It took them a while to get going in all three games so far.
But their most important player, Landon Donovan, has shown that he has been able to step up when needed, and the rest of the team might take inspiration from his performances and those of a couple of others. So I think they will beat Ghana, and it will then be a close quarter-final against the winner of Uruguay v South Korea.
Unfortunately, they are now out of the World Cup. But, they did play a good couple of games, and gave the USA some good soccer games to cheer for!
As someone who knows little about soccer and first time really watching games here and there, I'm happy with the USA team. After getting robbed in the previous game by a bad ref call and getting this win, its a big boost to the interest of soccer here in the US. Hopefully if we at least make it to the Round of 8 the interest won't wane and America will try to catch up with the rest of the world with soccer.
Just like many people took an interest in Curling with the Olympics, hopefully this is the shot in the arm soccer needs in America.
I think that the USA team has done well so far and as they are facing ghana they really do have a realistic chance of making it to the quarter finals. Ghana are a strong team but they lack the cutting edge in front of goal as we witnessed in all their games. The two goals they have scored so far have been from the penalty spot and they are yet to score from open play.
Defensively ghana are not as strong as it may seem. Their first choice defnsive pairing are not at full fitness and the youngsters they have put in such as jonathan lack the big game experience. Therefore if the USA play at their top level as they did against england they should be able to beat ghana.
The problem for them will come for them in the quarter final as I expect them to face Uruguay who will overcome south korea easily. Uruguay are yet to concede a goal which means they have a great defense and their attack is just as potent with the likes of Forlan, Suarez and Cavani. Therefor USA should reach the quarter final but they will have to really put in a hard effort to overcome Uruguay.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
