Ok, I have a wheel of Brie and a package of Phyllo dough... and many different recipes for Baked Brie. I am looking for something completely different (no internet, please). I do not have to use the dough.

My favorite I also like to improvise and try my own ideas with things like this. You can barely go wrong as long as you don't put something like sardines in mustard sauce in there (although some people might like that)...... I've bought myself some Harry and David Royal Riviera pears every Christmas since I've lived on my own. One year, I had purchased a brie and some phyllo for Christmas eve dinner with a special friend.
I centered the brie in the dough and then sliced one of those juicy, succulent pears on it, placed about 3 tablespoons of butter on that, and then topped it with a handful of pecan halves. I pulled the dough up into a "purse-like" top and tied it with some butcher string then baked it. Oh yeah, to make it look good on the outside, I did an egg wash and stuck a couple pecan halves around the outside too.
DELISH! I've also tried appricots, different kinds of preserves, chutney, etc...... Bon Appetit! .

Usually I do the "normal" and slice off the top of the brie, slather on apricot preserves of great quality and wrap and bake...during this time of year I am fond of using whole berry cranberry sauce and chopped walnuts and then wrapping in pie crust, with some pie crust decoration cutouts, such as holly leaves and berries, brushing with an egg wash and baking till golden. Serve with toasted bread rounds and sliced apples (swished through a water/lemon juice solution to prevent browning). Merry Christmas!.
Brie En Croute This baked Brie is excellant. BRIE EN CROUTE 16 oz Brie wheel 4 oz Mushrooms, shiitake Butter; for sauteing 1/4 ts Tarragon 2 Garlic clove 2 oz Wine 1/2 lb Filo Saute mushrooms in butter with tarragon, garlic and a bit of wine until the mixture is almost dry (the mushrooms should be sliced or chopped), take a wheel of brie, slice it in half, put the mushroom mix in the middle, and wrap it in phyllo or puff pastry (the frozen puff pastry works fine). Put in the freezer for 20 minutes to firm everything up.At this point, it can be moved to the fridge and kept until needed.
Bake it at 350 deg. Until the puff pastry browns. Let sit for 15-20 minutes before cutting.
You can also use puff pasty scraps to cut out little leaves and stuff to put on top for decoration. This is best with the small wheels, about 5 inches in diameter..
Apricot and walnut baked brie I once had an apricot and walnut baked brie. The apricots and walnuts were in a kind of sweetish glaze and they were on top of the brie. The phyllo dough was wrapped around it all and it was a gooey delicious mess!
This was at a party, but sadly I didn't get the recipe. I do know it had apricots, walnuts, maybe currants, cinnamon, and sugar in the mixture that topped the brie. I know it's sketchy but I hope that helps.
I cook like you do....don't need a recipe, and can mimic things pretty well if I have ingredients. Maybe you can figure this out. I've not tried to recreate it myself though..
Probably already know this one - put brie on phyllo and cover with apricot preserves and wrap phyllo around it and bake .
My results are less than perfect (forget that - they are horrible! ).
I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
