Our neighbors smoke a lot of weed and you can smell it everywhere. What can we do?

Well, first off I am in Canada. This question is appearing for me on Yahoo! Canada Answers... so I don't know exactly but, my experience with protesting and activism and the police?

They have a LOT to do and if they are going to bust someone for dope (seriously, they have more important things to do- I believe marijuana possession is still a criminal offense in the US? In BC, where I live, it's been decriminalized but is not legalized). Anyway.

I think you are being paranoid. If something was going to happen, I am 99.9% sure it would have happened already. Now, for the paranoia and the slamming window.

Quite possibly the guy did smell your pot and the smell bugged him. Not everyone likes the smell of pot. Maybe he was having a bad day and the slamming window had nothing to do with you?

Either way, I highly doubt your neighbor is going to phone the police on you for a doobie, even if he did realize your were smoking a joint. If he didn't yesterday, I don't think he is going to today, or a week from now or a month from now. People have their own lives to live.

In the future, try to smoke in your room. Or make pot brownies or cookies if you are too paranoid. Or give up pot.

(And yes, just so you know, I find the laws regarding marijuana in most of North America utterly nuts and hypocritical). Take care. Chill out a bit.

Demand to see the evidence (which you smoked up)? Phone the police long after the "evidence" is gone (he would look like a troll and the police would ignore him, imagine how that conversation would go: " police? I would like to report my neighbor.

I think I saw him smoking a joint..." "Are you sure it was marijuana sir? Was he selling it? Do you have reason to believe he is involved with a grow-op?" "No, but he's a teenager, so I think he was smoking a *joint*.

And he was smoking. It stank. So I closed the window.

Well if you live in california, you can just get one of those marijuana permits that makes it legal for you. And if you for some reason can't, just don't smoke weed outside anymore. If an officer comes to you're door, ask if he has a warrant.

If he doesn't, he can't legally search your home for any reasons. However, legally, you don't even have to answer the door if an officer comes to your house (or anyone else for that matter).

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
