Thank goodness for hair color.... They did a recent study on why women look so much younger today than they did 40 years ago and the one main reason was Hair Dye! Funny huh? No more grey!
So this is of course my opinion only. For the last say 5 years or so I have been highlighting my hair in the summer. I do this at the salon. It dries out my hair but my bangs are so much more manageable after doing this.
My hair is long and curly. I did color my hair twice in that time in the winter with a temporary -do it yourself- at home -hair color. From Loreal I believe.
So pros from Semi-permanent-It washing out. It conditions well. You can try different ones till you find one that you really like.
Not suck with it till your hair grows out! Permanent-Lasts longer-so in the long run-costs less.... Unless you are going to a salon to get this done every 6 weeks or so...... If you can do it at home yourself without making a hugh mess and don't mind doing it yourself then I think this is the way to go. But if you don't mind spending the money I would go to the salon.
It's nice to get pampered and the talk it usually good at the salon. That's how I look at it.PS I don't have the $ or the time to do this at the salon-I am so low maintenance! My roots from highlighting are usually 6/7 inches before I do something again.
This is probably not the best way to handle this but........it's me. Have a good one! .
I say "Hair Salon" If you are a first-timer, then a salon would be the way to go along with a semi-perm color. The good salons will give you a consulation and find out what you are really looking for in a hairstyle and really tailor a hair cut to show off your color choice. The Semi-perm color is for those who want to "color" before committing to a regular maintaince cost.
If you choose to DIY with color from the grocery store, I caution you to use the semi-perm. If you chose to get your hair done by a salon after using grocery store color, then you run the risk of having 2 color processes done:1 to remove the grocery store color (color correction) and 1 to put the salon color on. Get recommendations from your friends for sytlists & salons - those are the best option instead of checking the yellow pages.
The best experience I have had was at a Paul Mitchell Exclusive Salon where they sold only Paul Mitchell products and hair cut design ideas. Redken is a good started salon if you want to easy into it. paulmitchell.com/Salons/Pages/Salons.aspx redken.com/inspire/ Sources: Personal Exp & many friends in the Beauty Industry .
Well this depends on the client's needs. If their have is damaged, very porous..the kind of hair, the color..... If it is already bleached(high lights) alot of people confuse Bleaching with peroxide....they are TWO different products. Peroxide is what activates...color or BLEACH.
If you plan to COVER up a BLEACH JOB, I recommend SEMI or even DEMI color, because hair Bleach is FOREVER..until its cut off. So using a permanent(which only last up to 12 weeks) will only last a few weeks, before the bleach begins to show thru. Thats alot of ammonia & peroxide....to use all time...considering bleaching can be so damaging in the first place.
SEMI Perm will use a "prompter" or some kind of "activayor" and it can last from 4-6 weeks....however since their is NO peroxide..it cannot LIFT/LIGHTEN hair ONLY DEPOSIT color... DEMI will only last a few shampoos...I actually use alot of this.....and add it to my shampoo to "freshen" existing haircolor or to enchance natural hues in hair. Gray hair is the MOST stubborn(along with ethnic) hair to color....there are very few NONE peroxide...GRAY coverage hair color.....exept for HAIR STAINS(but you would have to go dark) as therse do not have the ability to lighten. OTC...EXCELLENCE is the BEST for GRAY.
Preference hair color was NOT made to cover gray hair...it will cover, but not well and not for very long. Hair salons will use professinal ONLY products Redken, Goldwell, Materix, Joico hair color...these are not any better then others, but the COLOR CHOICE is awesome! As I said it really depends on what your trying to aceive as a HAIR goal .
Semi-Permanent Color. Also called "stains" or "washes," semi-permanent products coat the hair with color that washes out after about 6 to 12 shampoos. You won't have any worries about your roots because the color washes out before roots can really show.
However, since semi-permanent products don't contain any ammonia or peroxide, you won't be able to lighten your hair any shades, you'll only be able to add color. Permanent Color. Permanent color uses both ammonia and peroxide, which enter the hair's cortex and create a change that cannot be washed out.
Keep in mind that the end result is always a combination of the added pigment and the original pigment of your hair, so the dye may look different on you than, on your friend, the model on the box, or Julia Roberts. But as the name suggests, when you wash with permanent color, if you don't like it, your only options are to wait for the color to grow out or to dye over it (which, again, DEFINITELY requires a pro). Some people think they can do this themselves at home.
Maybe they can BUT if you have lots of gray in your hair and you are coloring it red. Doing it yourself may very well give you pink hair. That isn't pretty!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
