There have been a few Lets see, The normal stuff, hike in a mile or 2 in 3 ft of snow at -5 degree weather to get a few shots here in the Alaskan Winter, or shooting outdoors in Dec for an Alaskan wedding, (No gloves was the hard part there for me and the very low light). Slip and fall on a sheet of ice and then be stuck on it as its too slick to stand up on... That is always fun... But lets see.. I dressed up like a woman once to get a photo, as the event was only open to women the first day, so 3 lady friends of mine helped me pick an outfit and such. It was so weird and they all promised to not take photos of me.

But I got several nice shots, one of which I was able to sell to womens club for their fundraiser flyer, and then donated a print to the fundraiser to help them out. I have gone almost 3 days w/o sleep waiting for an egg to hatch and to get a shot of the mom and the new chick. I ended up missing the shot, as I was so tired I did not make any adjustments for the light change.. argh.. But the strangest would have to be, driving 500+ miles each way and then packing my needed gear in a small backpack and then trying to ski down a slope (when I had not skied in over 5 yrs and was never very good at it) to get a shot of my best friends sons first ski event.

I had to move a few times during the events but it was a challenge, but the looks on the boys faces when they saw Uncle Kevin taking their picture was well worth it. It was a really long weekend for me, and I came home with some bruises from a few crashes on the slope, but the gear made it home in one piece and that was the goal! Sources: life experiences to get the shot for myself or my friends and family.

Hanging in a tree like a monkey When I was in college taking photography classes we would do just about anything to get a good shot becuase if you took normal shots (from normal vantage points) our professor thought they were boring and gave you a bad grade. One weekend I was out taking pictures of the river and thought it would be cool to take the pictures from a higher vantage point...so, I climbed up a tree with my camera in tow, propped myself up on a branch and got some great pictures...but I did feel a little like a monkey hanging out in that tree Sources: personal experience .

Cross-dressed to gain NFL access As a high school student, I dressed as a drill-team member to gain access to an NFL game. Our high school drill team was performing at halftime at a 1985 St. Louis Football Cardinals game... (prior to moving to AZ)..And I dressed to gain access to on-field. The clothes really did not make me look out of place..But my $300.00 Olympus OM-10 camera with a cheap telephoto lens looked downright comical next to the zillion dollar Canon & Nikon gear the pros had.

The strangest thing I think I have done to get a photo was to get out of the car and get on all fours in the middle of the road so that I could get a neat perspective of a long and winding country road. My husband was screaming at me that a car was coming, but I waved him off because he is always fooling around like that, except this time he wasn't! A pick-up truck was barrelling down the road and luckily he saw me and swerved around me.

Maybe that isn't the strangest thing, but it probably qualifies for the dumbest thing I've ever done to get a photo. I asked my husband what the strangest thing I have ever done to get a photo and without hesitation he said it was when I took my camera into Whole Foods. I snapped away at whatever struck my fancy and got some fantastic photos, but he said he was really uncomfortable because of the looks I was getting from people.

I bring a camera with me into just about any store that I am shopping in so I don't think it is all that strange. Only twice has anyone asked me to stop taking photos and one of those times I was in a homemade candy shop and they said it was to protect their designs. Confectionary espionage must be a greater crime than I had imagined so I put the camera away and bought a chocolate covered devil dog.

Another great place to bring your camera is Pier 1 Imports. They have some lovely items and glassware that make for great photos. Over the Lake I was in the military stationed around lake Michigan which was beautiful. Their was one place on base that overlooked the lake with a beautiful view. It set back up in the tree line overlooking the water.

What I wanted to do was get a shot of the sun rising over the water which would occur this particular morning around 5:15 A:M. On Saturday. The problem was the area was off limits until 6:00 A:M.

So I basically snuck through the fence line at the risk of being caught and got the shots any way. It was with an old 35mm Pentax film camera and they came out pretty good. The multicoled red, orange sky as the sun was rising over lake Michigan.

Beautiful. At least I didn't get caught! :-) Doc .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
