The answer depends on what you want to get out of the movie. If all you're interested in is seeing the cool special effects, fight sequences, etc. Then not being able to understand the alien language exchanges should not be a deal breaker. However, if you want to get the nuances of the "noble savage" as director James Cameron tried to depict them, you will miss a lot.
In my opinion one of the most interesting aspects of the movie was how successfully the director was able to portray the humans as the bad guys, and have us human viewers accept that point of view. Without understanding the alien dialog you will miss most of that. Of course you can always go back and watch the movie again when it comes out on DVD to get that part of it.
Yes it takes away from you watching the movie.
No...not if you are seeing it in 3d, the alien dialogue or any of the diaologue in the movie is not that relevant. It is not the storyline that is amazing in this movie....It is the awesome graphics and the great 3d effects...Only see this movie in 3d, can't stress that enough. I have seen other 3d movies but was really impressed with how far they have come with 3d technology for this movie. It is a really fun movie for that reason.
There is not a lot of alien language as they know most people can't stand subtitles anyway. Go see it you will have lots of fun.Do not go see it if you are expecting an amazing storyline. That is not its strong point, the story is not terrible it is just not as amazing as the graphics.
Have fun.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
