Please help me gnats/fruit flies are taking over my house and life?! How to get rid of them?!?

3 general sources: Fruit flies that came in with the groceries........not usually a problem unless you keep fruit out in the open. House plants.......soil fungus gnats live on organic matter in the soil. Pour very dilute liquid dishwashing stuff through the soil, let sit 10 minutes.

Rinse. Repeat every 3 days for 3 times....maybe more. More likely this are coming from your drains.

The live down in the water trap and gunk along the pipes. Pour full strength cleaner, like PineSol down each drain.....cup each?) put in the stopper and leave the house for a few hours. Stopper because it gets pretty 'piney' smelling.

Come home and run HOT water down each drain. If your house has evaporative cooler or some system with water stored for cooling, the critters could be in the cooler and coming through the vents.

Somewhere in the area you have garbage or animal crap or anyway some kind of organic material around, where these little bastards are breeding and laying their eggs. You need to practice crap discipline basically. Wet garbage or whatever it is has to be kept sealed up or otherwise disposed of or eliminated, on a continuous basis.

Until you determine the source you will have these little bastards around. If you insist there's no such thing in your house, fine, believe whatever you want. The flies will continue to do their thing anyhow.

Could be an open drain somewhere also..

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
