The political correctness has gone too far. All holiday displays of the season for this time of year, secular and non-secular should be displayed, even government property. To me, that is TRUE diversity.
And these displays should be done side by side. It might even help create educational discussion:o And the political correctness should not effect or ruin your Christmas.
How interesting that you believe some governmental decree has "ruined your Christmas holiday. " Jesus was crucified on the cross because of his belief. Do you think Jesus cared or paid attention to what the other people said?
He told the tales he wanted others to hear and paid a high price for voicing his opinion. S disciples also paid a high price for following his example. Honestly, has religion truly been acceptable to everyone?
No one can ruin your holiday except you.
You know, the whole linking of Christmas to Christ is in itself a fallacy. He was not born on the 25th of December. The celebration now known as Christmas was originally a pagan holiday Yule.
The church founders just renamed the holiday and took it over because they found it impossible to stamp out the pagan celebrations of having a Yule log, giving presents, having a Christmas tree and most other parts of the Christmas season rituals. So telling the story of Christ is not the true meaning of Christmas anyway - it is just a version of what Christmas now means. So to be really PC Christmas needs to link back to its pagan past, realise that the birth of Christ is not really linked in anyway to this holiday.
I don't think political correctness has ruined Christmas in a way that is more major than it's ruined everything else. Politcal correctness ruins society. While we have to have a level of respect for people (or should at least) there is nothing wrong with calling a white person white.
There's nothing wrong with calling a black person black. It's just how it is...people should get over all the political correctness BS and just call it as it is.
As far as a nativity scene being offensive. No, it is not offenseive. At least it isn't offensive to me.
CHRISTmas is the Christian celebration of the birth of Christ. Whether someone else thinks it's stupid or not really doesn't matter. CHRISTians should have the right to their own beliefs, practices and religion.
CHRISTmas is a major holiday within the CHRISTian faith. Why leave CHRIST out of it?
I didn't know about this. In my country, everyone puts up a nativity scene/manger and people don't mind.
In my opinion, I think people should stop over thinking things. All holidays have a certain "image" and there is nothing wrong with that. In fact, the reason why we have Christmas is because it's the birth of Jesus, thus the Nativity scene.
My favorite Christmas decoration is a nativity scene. I don't want to offend anyone, but I am celebrating a religious holiday. They don't have to agree with my beliefs, but my beliefs won't change just so I can be politically correct.
In my country manger scenes are traditionally displayed everywhere. Maybe because of the unique peculiarities in them that almost border prophanity... See my hubs on "el caganer" and the Scatologic Christmas in Catalonia for a taste of what I am talking about.
Christmas is doing quite well. No one is stopping you from having a nativity scene in your own house.
Yes, political correctness has ruined Christmas in the workplace (in some cases) but not in general. No, displaying a nativity scene is not so offensive.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
