Despite the carping that the liberals do about the "rich", they have some of the richest in the country today among their numbers. Take notice of who the people "pushing for more" are in Wisconsin. They are the liberal based unions, they want more and more and we pay the bill.
Take notice of the cost of fuel, it is the liberals that are heavily invested in foreign oil who are responsible for the moratorium on domestic energy production. (They claim it is for environmental reason, but money is the end game.) We have below the surface of our midwest more oil that the entire mideast combined but because of the "foreign oil" profit made by invested politicians in Washington we are paying over $100 a barrel for our energy while we have oil that would cost us less than $20 here at home. So the answer to your question is "YES", they do love high paying jobs and money in general despite their claims to the contrary.
You mention the word "jobs" I believe the only "jobs" being created are government jobs. The private sector is hunkering down and downsizing in the face of 0bamacare and other government regulatory fiascoes. Government jobs are high paying jobs but to pay the workers, The government has to take more money from taxpayers than it gives to the government workers.
This is the fundamental paradox of government trying to help. As Ronald Reagan said - "The 9 scariest words in the English language are - I'm from the government and I'm here to help." Listen to liberals they abhor the concept of "profit."

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
